Central Jersey Mountaintops – A Springboard Multi Stage
After traveling a bit I’ve realized that some of the most beautiful and rewarding hikes to take usually involve going up and down mountains. Unfortunately in Central Jersey that isn’t often a possibility. I picked these two hills near Rising Sun Lake as a good point to start chasing elevation around the state.
Cache should be fairly easy except for the modest climb. The first stage is a devilishly hidden micro that contains only the coordinates for the final stage. If you really want a challenge don’t read the hint, as I’ve tried to make it a dead giveaway for the first stage.
And Now For The “Springboard” Idea
I’d like to try something I think might be new in geocaching by having this cache be the first stage for an unlimited number of multi stage caches along the same theme. I’m challenging the community to find other “Central Jersey Mountains” on public land to share with the rest of us. Set up a cache in an area that qualifies as a CJ Mountain but don’t post the coordinates on your cache page. Instead reference this cache and enter the coordinates in the log book for “Central Jersey Mountaintops – A Springboard Multi Stage” Someone searching for your cache would then need to find my cache first to retrieve the location. I’m hoping that this cache will become the starting block for dozens of caches around the state.
It’s a new idea and one I think could be a lot of fun. I’ll maintain this cache and possibly create a better system for organizing its daughters and granddaughters beyond just the log book. All cache owners would be responsible for maintaining and organizing their own caches. If this idea builds some steam I’ll most likely have a geocoin minted to commemorate the caches it gives birth to.
The challenge is open to evolution and interpretation – just let me know if you like the idea by placing a daughter cache. It would be at the discretion of cache owners to decide if they’d like to share coordinates with those who have logged this cache before their own location was added to the log.
