The Hike or Bike series is intended to provide a cache where
you
can get out and walk or bike (or roller blade) and enjoy the
beautiful waterfront trail. This is the fifth cache in this
series
which will head in a westerly direction.
Port of Whitby
The coordinates listed are for the first Waypoint. If you are
biking, you can follow the waterfront trail route and go right
to
the first waypoint however if you are driving there is a
parking
area close by.
At the first waypoint, look for “A Gentle Soul”. Take the
year
they were born and use the following formula to determine the
last
three digits in the North Coordinate.
Year of birth x 2 – 458 / 8 = AAA
Next take the year of their death use the following formula
to
determine the last three digits in the West Coordinate.
Year of death – 991 x 5 + 1000 = B.BBB
N 43 51.AAA W 078 5B.BBB
At the second waypoint, you will find a micro film canister
with
the coordinates for the final cache.
