Lost Lake Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BrewerMD: I have been thinking of this cache and whether I wanted to replace it (if needed) or not. When I placed this, there were no other caches around and I wanted to bring cachers out to see this spot. Now, there are no shortages of caches so this one no longer serves it's purpose. Additionally, when I placed this cache and many others like it, I enjoyed reading the logs that spoke about the journey and adventure getting to this cache. Now the logs just say things like thanks for all the caches I found today. I have no interest in keeping this cache, sad. Bye bye and thank you for all who visited this cache.

Geocache Description:

Lost Lake is located on Chuckanut Mountain and is part of the Chuckanut Mountain Park and Trail system (visit link) You can access Lost Lake several ways, the two most popular being from the Clayton Beach Parking area or from the upper Fragrance Lake trail. At the time that I placed this cache, Cleator Road was closed due to flood damage so I went in via the Clayton Beach Parking area. The first part of the hike is on old logging roads, the second part on trails that are well marked and signed until you get to the lake. Once at the lake, you are looking for a trail that follows the ridgeline, it starts in the NE corner of the lake. The cache is at a spot that is perfect for a lunch break, I took advantage of it myself.

After finding the cache, you can go back along the ridge the direction you came from or you can continue on along the ridge trail. That way is longer, more arduous, and less direct but is a beautiful hike in the woods. If you go that way, stay right at the junctions and you will eventually meet back up with the main trail.

The cache is an ammo can and is located within 10 feet of the viewpoint next to a log, under some salal. The terrain rating is for distance only, the distance car to cache is about 5 miles.
