Geocache Description:

This cache honors our first dog: Sienna.

This is near the parking lot for our Veterinarian.

We had an awesome dog a few years ago (pre-GeoRetrievers), named Sienna. She was half Mastiff and half German Shepherd. We almost called her Blue, because her parent's owners used a different color of nail polish on the top of their heads to tell the puppies apart, and Sienna's color was blue! When we got her at 8 weeks old, she fit in my two cupped hands. She eventually grew into a 130 pound dog!

She was an avid frisbee and tennis ball catcher/chaser (she didn't actually like to give it back though). She was a really great companion and protector. Assuming you were human, she'd love you, especially little kids (but it WAS pretty common people would cross the street if they saw us coming on a walk!).

However, if you were a small animal (cat, "rat dog", or whatever) you were fair game, which cost us a few vet bills for other peoples pets :-(. We learned to keep her on-leash!

Unfortunately, at about age 6, she developed bone cancer, and after seeing her in a lot of pain, and the options (amputation, radio/chemo therapy) weren't really too promising, after some really tough decision making, we decided we had to let her go.

I think our awesome vets at this location were nearly as upset about this as we were, and they made this as easy as possible.

I'm sorry to get so "verklempt" in this cache description, but we still miss her, even a few years later!

So, this cache has been placed in her honor. She really enjoyed her visits to her vets (they really liked her, and of course there were the ever present treats), and we really appreciate all the time and effort they put into trying to cure her.

Our thanks to them!!!
