Geocache Description:

Easy UPGRADED small cache hidden within the Mt Druitt Waterholes Remembrance Garden which is located on the corner of the Great Western Highway and Simpson Hill Road, Mt Druitt. Also accessible by Mt Druitt Road.

Cache had been replaced - 3rd attempt so please place cache back where you found it and try to wedge it in tight!

PLEASE PLACE CACHE BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT - TRY TO WEDGE IT IN TIGHT!

The cache is named Dad’s Pride as my father contributed to making the stand for the nearby propeller. He was so proud to add his part to the history.

Towards the rear of the area, there is a symbol for each of the 3 services - an anchor, a howitzer gun and a propeller. Beside these is a black marble plaque presented by Mt Druitt Sub-Branch RSL Saying "LEST WE FORGET".

This remberance garden host the following tributes. Take time to have a look around.

World War 1 digger Private John (Barney) Hines Memorial. Died 1958, age 84

Mt Druitt and Colyton Roll of Honour - The Great War 1914 – 1918 - A large piece of sandstone with a plaque containing the 24 names of those who fought and an accompanying flagpole, all in a parkland setting. All status codes for deceased veterans have been taken from information in the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour and Commemorative Roll and the CWGC database.

There is a large slate rock Plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II (1945 - 1995) and also a plaque commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II.

They Shall grow not old: They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted. They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them. (O.L. Binyon from for the Fallen)

To those who served and to those who paid the supreme sacrifice.
