Geocache Description:

Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge
Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge
Checkpoint ZULU

This leg of the challenge will take you to the western part of Central Jersey, specifically the Zega-Lockatong Preserve area of the Wescott Nature Preserve in Delaware Township.

This is a public natural area owned and managed by the Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance. The preserve is primarily wooded with a small, open field along Raven-Rock Road. It is located just west of the historic iron truss bridge crossing the Lockatong Creek, on the north side of the road.

Park at N 40 24.965 W 075 01.096 and follow Mimi’s Trail, designated by red diamond markings. This lovely trail descends through hardwood forest to follow Lockatong creek.

You are searching for a 6x8" Lock-n-Lock container. This is not a difficult find; we figured if you drove all the way out to extreme western NJ for the Checkpoint Challenge, we would go easy on you! We highly recommend that you continue on down the trail after finding the cache as the area offers some stunning vistas.

In order to claim 1 of the 27 CeNeJeGeCa coins that will be available at the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge (GC1NJAZ) you MUST include a picture of your signature from EACH of the 26 checkpoint log books in your log on the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache.

Official CJCC Information
Central Jersey Geocachers are sponsoring the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge series. This challenge series is intended to take geocachers on a tour of Central New Jersey (loosely defined as north of 195 and south of 78) while finding caches placed by Central Jersey geocachers. On the tour we hope you will find Central Jersey an interesting and beautiful part of our great state.

This challenge series includes 26 checkpoint caches (naming based on the NATO phonetic alphabet) and the final - Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge (GC1NJAZ). The 26 checkpoints do not have to be completed in any particular order. See the CJCheckpoint bookmark for the complete list of caches.

Hidden within the 26 checkpoint caches are numbers to be used to calculate the coordinates of the final Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache – please be sure to note them while you are there.

While there are no special logging requirements for the 26 checkpoint caches, there are special logging requirements for the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache. Complete information can be found on the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache page.

Happy caching and enjoy the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge!!!
