About Monmouth Battlefield:
The largest artillery battle of the Revolutionary war took place here on June 28, 1778. The grounds are said to be the best preserved Revolutionary war site and look today much like they did in 1778. Thousands of British and American soldiers fought in the 100° temperatures over 225 years ago. While technicle, the Battle of Monmouth was not a victory for the Americans, it was a turning point in the war and set the stage for our freedom and independence.
