Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge
Checkpoint X-RAY
Welcome to the Farrington Lake Open Space Preserve in North
Brunswick, NJ. This cache will fulfill your “X-RAY” requirement for the
Central
Jersey Checkpoint Challenge.
This cache is a small Lock and Lock located within the park.
While here you might also enjoy doing other caches in the general
area.
North Brunswick's Big X
Chances are that on the way to this cache, you passed through
the biggest X around: the intersection of US Route 1 and Rt.
130/Georges Rd. Since North Brunswick has been my hometown for a
long time, that X has always marked 'the spot' (when I know I'm not
far from home), so this CJCC cache has been designated with
callsign X-Ray.
It is located in the woods on Farrington Lake Open Space
Preserve land owned by the township, which is crisscrossed by
unmarked trails and woods roads. Free public parking can be had to
the north of the GZ, in a small unpaved lot immediately to the west
of the dam. The cache itself is a small lock-n-lock hidden just off
a trail. In the spirit of the CJCC project, it should not be
difficult or time-consuming to find. Simply enjoy the stroll and
the sights in my corner of central Jersey.
- In order to claim FTF on the Central
Jersey Checkpoint Challenge (GC1NJAZ) or 1 of the additional 26
CeNeJeGeCa coins that will be available you MUST include a picture
of your signature from EACH of the 26 checkpoint log books in your
log on the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache.
Official CJCC
Information
Central Jersey Geocachers are sponsoring the Central Jersey
Checkpoint Challenge series. This challenge series is intended to
take geocachers on a tour of Central New Jersey (loosely defined as
north of 195 and south of 78) while finding caches placed by
Central Jersey geocachers. On the tour we hope you will find
Central Jersey an interesting and beautiful part of our great
state.
This challenge series includes 26 checkpoint caches (naming
based on the NATO phonetic alphabet) and the final - Central
Jersey Checkpoint Challenge (GC1NJAZ). The 26 checkpoints do
not have to be completed in any particular order. See the
CJCheckpoint bookmark for the complete list of caches.
Hidden within the 26 checkpoint caches are numbers to be used to
calculate the coordinates of the final Central Jersey Checkpoint
Challenge cache – please be sure to note them while you are
there.
While there are no special logging requirements for the 26
checkpoint caches, there are special logging requirements for the
Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache. Complete information can
be found on the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache page. In
order to claim FTF on the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge
(GC1NJAZ) or 1 of the additional 26 CeNeJeGeCa coins that will be
available you MUST include a picture of your signature from EACH of
the 26 checkpoint log books in your log on the Central Jersey
Checkpoint Challenge cache.
Happy caching and enjoy the Central Jersey Checkpoint
Challenge!!!
