*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings Dink78,

Looks like our timing is off and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't any maintenance here in a very long time, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

The above coordinates will take you to the first cemetery where you will find coordinates to the second cemetery. There you will find the coordinates to the cache at Sappington Cemetery. Thanks goes to site manager Mike Dickey for granting permission to place this cache.

This is a three part multi-cache that will take you to a few of the historic cemeteries in the Arrow Rock area including the Arrow Rock cemetery where many of Saline County’s more notable citizens originated. Unfortunately, slavery was a way of life in those times. Among the more prominent families in the Arrow Rock area were the Sappingtons who owned a large number of slaves. As a result the slaves were given a plot of ground to be used as a cemetery, which came to be known as the Sappington Negro Cemetery. Many of the Sappington family’s slaves (who’s labor and skills were a direct contribution to the Sappingtons’ success) along with other area families are buried here. Finally the Sappington Cemetery where Dr. John Sappington (one of the first doctors to use Quinine to treat malaria) is buried along with two Missouri governors. The first two caches are micros with the co-ordinates to the next stage and are similar in nature. The final cache is a well-hidden ammo box with some trade items. Minimal bushwhacking may be required. As always, when in the woods, watch out for snakes and other critters.

Please take the time to read the historic marker signs in these areas. There is no need to go in the cemeteries amongst the gravesites, all of the caches are hidden on the outskirts of the cemeteries, however, I encourage anyone interested in the history of this area to have a look around. No night caching please.

Congratulations to "Specter" for the FTF
