The once common teepee burner.
Long ago I had a route delivering the Record Searchlite newspaper to the houses surrounding a shasta county mill that had one of these burners. You could feel the glowing heat from long away even in winter. For some reason, these burners disappeared in the early 70's about the time the "Clean Air Act of 1970" was passed. That mill and houses are long gone now, too.
The cone shape design came in about 1916. The diameter of the flared base was same dimension as the height of the bottom of the cap. The cap diameter was 1/2 the base diameter.
