The cache box is labelled "Shark Creek Bridge". I decided to change the name after placing it.
This was the first reinforced concrete bowstring arch bridge built in Australia. Designed by DMR engineers, it was cast-in-place by the State Monier Pipe and Reinforced Concrete Works for 5,333 pounds 12s 6d and replaced a 1916 structure. CSR Company's early harvesting and transport of nearby sugar cane saved the bridge falsework having to provide openings for passing barges. Completed in 1936 it carried Pacific Highway traffic for 50 years. There is a safe area to park at the southern end of the bridge.
