Airport at Snowshoe, WV
Mountain legend says that long ago a man wanted to dig up some coal on a mountain he owned, but the athorities wouldn't allow it. So instead he said he was going to build and Airport for his ski resort. He got his permits. He tore up a large chunck of the mountain and got the coal then said he decided building an airport at the top of a windy mountain wasn't a good idea. In any case there is a giant bald spot on a mountain overlooking Snowshoe resort. On top of this you will find a beautiful view and the cache! If you mountain bike this is a great easy ride. 2 mile round trip.
Parking coordinates N38°26.130 W80°00.054
Cache was planted with a toy dinosaur, some growing sponges, some plastic fridge letters, a travel bug, and a hitchhiker letterbox.
This is a well traveled area, so watch out for spectators and please hide the cache well!
This a hybrid Geocache/letterbox Do not take the hand carved stamp. The hitchhiker stamp is meant to be taken and placed in another letterbox. If you have never done a letterbox check out letterboxing.org. There are some good ones in this part of WV.
