Geocache Description:

Another nice heritage area by Trans Canada Trail.
A fun cache.

On this site once stood the Copeland Mills. In 1887 Charles E Copeland was sent to Elmvale as a very young lad to manage the recently built Elmvale flour mills. In spite of his young age (18) he had great business sense and drive. He vastly expanded the milling operation to include lumbering and saw milling. Just after 1900 he established a hydroelectric enterprise using the waters of the nearby Wye River. A good employer for Elmvale with about 100 employees running the various operations. The cache contains only a log-book so bring your own writing instrument. In Spring and after heavy rain the Wye is a fast running deep river so caution needed especially for the younger family members.
