SAG IceBox of the Nation Spring Thaw Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

SAGeocachers: Well, the time has come to archive this event. Though it was a LITTLE windy [;)], we were fortunate enough to have plenty of sunshine. That helped out quite a bit, and of course it wouldn’t be the “IceBox of the Nation” if it weren’t a tad chilly [:O]!

I would love to list each and every person that had a hand in making this event go so smoothly. However, there were so many people that played an integral role in this event that I [red]DO NOT[black] want to run the risk of missing anyone. With that said, I would like to thanks ALL the members of the Straits Area Geocachers. Without the dedication of this group, events like these would not be possible.

THANKS AGAIN [blue]S.A.G. [black]FOR ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE!

Geocache Description:

SAG IceBox of the Nation

On Saturday May 2nd, 2009 dust off your GPSr’s and get them warmed up for the first annual Spring Thaw Event.

The Straits Area Geocachers (SAG) will be hosting this event at the above coordinates with the Registration Table opening at 11:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. Tom Beyer of the Mobile Mariners will be conducting a Geocaching 101 class to introduce beginners to the fun sport of Geocaching. Upon completion of his class we will have several coaches available to assist newcomers with their GPSr’s and help ply their newfound skills with several on-site hides. Additionally there will be numerous permanent geocaches placed around the area in honor of this event.

We will be holding a Closest-To-The-Pin contest, raffle, 50/50, and have great door prizes. There will be a Travel Bug, Geocoin and Signature Item table set up and an area for Path Tag trading.

To help keep energy levels up, we will have light snacks and finger foods available throughout the event and people are encouraged to bring along a snack or dish to share. A cooler with soft drinks and water will also be available.

Come on out and join the fun, tell some tales and grab a few smiley’s. If you know someone who may be interested in learning about geocaching, bring ‘em along and help introduce them to this great way to enjoy the outdoors*.
