Geocache Description:

Located near Bell2 Lodge this is a quick and easy find a short walk from the Bell-Irving River. I used to work up at Bell2 and think it's a great location for geocaching, as it's a regular stop for travellers working their way up and down the Stewart-Cassiar highway. There's a gas station, a restaurant that's open 8am-8pm, a cozy coffee shop open 8am-6pm, and very nice accommodation available (the log structure heliski Chalets) as well as a campground.

July 12, 2018:
Lots of people remark, year after year, that this cache seems "awkward" or "private" -- they obviously don't read to the bottom of this description. Lots of people also assume because they can't find it it's been removed or gone missing... again, year after year this happens only to have many others find it. This cache has been in place close to 10 years now. Good luck!

March 13, 2009:
This is my first (and only) geocache. It was a result of finding a travel bug "Geo Joe" called "ALASKA OR BUST" (in 2008) while hunting for a few geocaches near our home in Canmore, Alberta with my son Rohan, who is now 13 years old (as of 2016). Rohan really liked Geo Joe and played with him off and on for the past year until I finally decided his trip to the Iditarod had been delayed enough.

Bell 2 Lodge is about >1100 km from my home so maintenance is a bit tricky although some of the staff at the lodge help out when the geocache needs attention. There were no geocaches in this part of the Stewart Cassiar Hwy so I decided to create a new one. It's in an interesting location and definitely a lot closer to Alaska than GeoJoe ever was before.

I also added a few other trinkets: 2 "Last Frontier Heliskiing" baggage tags, some bug sting medication (important I think in a couple of months in this location), some sticky notes, a bright orange rubber ball, a cool little plastic puzzle, and a couple of other silly things. Please replace these items with items that are at least a little interesting.

NOTE: If you're worried about the lodge staff wondering why you're snooping, just stop by the lodge front desk and tell them that you're looking for a Geocache placed there by Tom Wolfe (I'm one of the heliski guides who used to work there in the winter). Franz, one of the owners, is often there and knows where it's located in case you get stumped.
