Geocache Description:

We've placed this cache in remembrance of Rick “Meadow Muffin” Kealey who passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
Meadow Muffin

Rick began geocaching in Nov 2003. Not long after he started he met Bluelamb03 and Mudlark. It was around the same time that the informal group “Saturday Morning Caching Club” (SMCC) developed, and Rick soon became a regular. The SMCC met at the Newport Restaurant in Westboro Saturday mornings for breakfast before geocaching through the morning.

As membership in the SMCC grew it morphed into the Geomob and Rick was a regular in this group as well. At some point the Geomob began to out grow itself and splitters formed. One of these groups was the SOBs “South End Old Boys” and Rick was a "charter member" again.

Along with Rick the SOBs are Greely Grizzly, Mudlark, GIS-Guy, Mattawa, DancesWithWords, Jman, Pokaroo, Green Frog and various other friends who join us from time to time.

Rick was a gentle person with a great sense of humour. He had an infectious laugh. He loved caching for the fun, exercise and comraderie. Rick also placed a number of great caches that many of you have found through the years.

Rick had battled an illness for more than a year before his passing, which greatly reduced his ability to cache with us. Whenever he was up to it, though, he would join us for our post caching lunch. Ricks presence at lunch was greatly enjoyed by all. He always got a laugh at our caching stories and watching soccer with us.

Rick is missed every time we hit the trail or whenever we get together. Thanks for coming to this cache we placed in memory of Rick.

If you knew him, take a moment to remember him. Even if you didn't know Rick, take a moment to reflect and appreciate your friends.

As we, the SOBs, found out, we don't know how long we have to enjoy their company. ***NB, FOR THOSE ATTEMPTING THIS CACHE IN THE WINTER, PLEASE LOOK FOR AND USE AN EXISTING SIDE TRAIL TO GET TO GROUND ZERO. THE CACHE IS NOT FAR OFF THE NCC TRAILS AND WE DON'T WANT TO ATTRACT ATTENTION DUE TO A NUMBER OF TRACKS TO THE CACHE. THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION.***
