The Hike or Bike series is intended to provide a cache where you
can get out and walk or bike (or roller blade) and enjoy the
beautiful waterfront trail. This is the sixth cache in this series
which will head in a westerly direction.
Thickson Point
The coordinates listed are for the first Waypoint. If you are
biking, you can follow the waterfront trail route and go right to
the first waypoint however if you are driving there is a parking
area close by.
At the first waypoint, answer the following questions.
1. What year did John Corbett settle here? _________ = A
2. When did James Thickson purchase the point? _________ = B
Add A to the following north coordinate, and add B to the west
coordinate.
N 43 49.077 W 078 52.157
Example. If the answer is 2009, add that number to N43 49.007
and you get N43 51.016
At the second waypoint, you will find a micro film canister with
the coordinates for the next waypoint. At that location, you will
find a second micro film canister with the coordinates to the final
cache.
The final cache is not on the waterfront trail but is close by and
easily accessible though there is some light bushwhacking to reach
the final cache.
