Kanaldronningen/The queen of the Telemark Channel
D/S Victoria er bygget ved Akers mek Verksted i Oslo, og ble sjøsatt 11.02.1882. Båten fikk navnet Victoria til minne om kronprinsesse Victoria som var kronprins Gustafs tyske brud. 23. oktober 1893 kom et ekstratog til Skien. De kongelige personer, Kong Oscar og Prins Eugen gikk ombord i Victoria ved kanalbryggen i Skien. Så bar ferden oppover mot Nordsjø. På denne befaringen satte man også sine navnetrekk i fjellet ved Vrangfoss sluser. I 1953 ble D/S Victoria modernisert, og fikk innsatt dieselmotor, samtidig som den fikk nytt, mer moderne utseende. M/S Victoria blir i dag omtalt som kanaldronningen, og har siden 21. juni 1963 trafikkert Telemarkskanalen mellom Skien og Dalen i sommersesongen.

S/S Victoria was built at Aker Shipyard (in Oslo), and launched 11th February 1882. The name of the ship was in memory of crownprincess Victoria, crownprince Gustafs German bride. 23th October 1893 an extra train arrived in Skien. The royal persons, King Oscar and prince Eugen went onboard S/S Victoria at the channelquay in Skien. The journey went towards Nordsjø. During the trip the visitors wrote their signatures in the rock at Vrangfoss locks. In 1953 S/S Victoria was modernized and a diesel engine replaced the old steam engine. The exterior of the ship was also brought more up to date. M/S Victoria is today mentioned as the queen of the channel. Since 21st June 1963 the ship has sailed the Telemark channel between Skien and Dalen during the summer season
