Prior to 1870 the original navigational aid was a wooden keg and
storm lantern on Marlston Hill. The first lighthouse was 3m high.
This was updated in 1903 and feaured the current copper dome and
light. After 33 years of service, increased trade necessitated a
new structure. With the chequered pattern to improve visibility, it
was relocated to the present site in 1971.
To find the cache the following questions need to be
answered.
A - The number of white painted posts along the path? Take away
5.
B - The number of opaque panels at the top of the lighthouse.
C - The number of rungs at the very top of the structure added to
the number of double street lights that can be seen from this
waypoint.
D - How many light houses are located at this site?
E - How many bands of the 'chequer board' pattern go up the Light
House? Take away 8.
F - How many Jolly Rogers can been seen flying at the top of the
Light House?
Checksum
A + B + C - D - E + F = 7
The co-ordinates for the cache are
S 33° 19. DBA
E 115° 37. CEF
This site is popular with muggles performing different types of
exercise. Stealth is required.
***The cache has been muggled once and is now in a new location,
hence the slight change to the questions. We did noticed a lot of
tracks made through the sand dunes around the previous GZ. Please
note that the cache can be located without stepping off the path.
Dune restoration is occurring and the plants need to grow.***
