Geocache Description:

My mom moved to the area in 1999 and became active in learning Lagarto history, thought this would be great spot for a cache.
Muggles at times.
Pathtag for FTF
Lock n lock container also contains other goodies.

Site of Live Oaks only college. Opened 1884, with 4 teachers. Promoted locally to further the towns growth (pop 500). Once prosperous, Lagarto failed after two railroad bypasses. School closed 1895. Two-story building was moved and used as a ranch house.
The existing building was built in 1925 and was the Lagarto School and closed around 1949.
In 1970 the Lagarto Community Club took charge of the building and now meet their regularly for various activities.

Please do not stick your hand in or around anything without first checking for other critters that might also inhabit the area.
Everyone deserves to live in a community that is healthy, safe, clean and beautiful, and we all have a role to play in achieving this goal.
When camping; Wildlife-proofing your trash may take a few extra minutes on your part, but for animals, it can mean the difference between life and death. While hiking and searching for your next cache please always remember; CITO.
