Alviso is an under-appreciated historic gem in Silicon Valley. This cache is not particularly challenging, but we bring you here because I've always been intrigued by Alviso and especially the the dilapidated building across the street with the signage "Skin Deep". It won't last much longer, so enjoy it while you can.
This was the Tilden General Store from 1865 - 1912 and Laine's Grocery from 1940 - 1960. From discussions with local Alviso residents, we learned that in the 1930's this building housed a Chinese gambling establishment, dance hall and house of ill repute. We were also told that later it was a tattoo parlor (unconfirmed and perhaps the source of the name "Skin Deep").
Behind you is the old Alviso Hotel, also with a rich history. Alviso was a thiving port until the lower bay silted in.
We recently read that there may be plans to start a ferry from Alviso to SF. Just imagine ...

This is a small tupperware like box suitable for very small trade items and possibly a coin. Please bring your own pen. We've left an authentic Roman coin for the FTF. It has nice markings, so you might want to keep it for your personal cache stash.
