Sixth in the series around Halfpenny
As the route jinks through the hamlet of Birkrigg, watch for the footpath sign which directs you through the stable yard to Storth End. Don’t take the bridleway for Summerlands but head up into Birkrigg woods on the path across the boggy ground from which you can make out the path climbing gently into the trees.
These woods are not so well maintained and there seem to be plenty of casualties lying around and the sad remains of a tyre swing.There are some young elderberry bushes to the right of the path. .
