Geocache Description:

This is another cache in the Faded Markers Series. This series will mainly focus on older, near forgotten burial plots of pioneers in the Niagara Region and beyond. The goal of this series is not necessarily the length of the walk nor the difficulty of the find, but rather a simple reverence for those who came before us to shape our area.

Frederick Lampman and Catharine Lampman (and possibly a child) are interred in this forgotten and abandoned cemetary.

Name: Frederick Lampman
Sex: M
Birth: ABT 1720 in Kisketemesy or West Camp, Ulster, NY, and
Death: 1789 in Stamford Twp., Welland Co., Ontario

Name: Catarina Schram
Sex: F
Birth: 2 MAR 1728
Death: 1811 in Stamford Twp., Welland Co., Ontario
Event: Christened 7 MAR 1728 Zion Lutheran Church, Loonenburg, Greene County, New York

Name: Frederick Lampman , Jr.,U.E.
Sex: M
Birth: 8 SEP 1752 in Loonenburg, Green Co., New York, USA
Death: 7 NOV 1838

It is believed that there is a grave for a child, but there is no solid proof of this....except for the 2 smaller markers behind the main marker. They may be children's markers, but the initials are the same as Frederick and Catarina....could be coincidence that they named their children with the same initials....although it is confirmed that their son was, Frederick Jr....no mention of a daughter.

This cemetary is located on the original property of Frederick Lampman. The city of Niagara Falls acquired ownership in 1973.

Please, NO NIGHT CACHING and do not drive into this area!
There is parking for one car at the trailhead but no more than once car and please be respectful of the property! Take it easy if it's muddy....wouldn't want to leave tire tracks everywhere.

Permission has been given by the land owner and I must have talked to him for almost an hour about the history of this area and the importance of preserving it.

It is a relatively easy walk through the field, but it can be mind-numbingly cold if it's later in the year and there's a strong west wind in your face!

Cache is an ammo can as I thought this location was quite deserving of something better than a micro!
