Geocache Description:

The M&NA railroad passed by here and the Heber Springs depot was here.

Another hide in the evolving M&NA railroad system. You are looking for a small metal container containg a log, photo of the depot and travel bug that wishes to "ride the rail" to other M&NA cache locations.

The depot was on the property now occupied by EZ Mart and the property to the west. The depot faced a southerly direction.

Careful as you board the train about to pull out for Leslie. We are scheduled to leave at 11:48 a.m. and the trip will be about 2:40 per the schedule (just remember the M&NA nickname- May Not Arrive). The train has entered the depot coming from Kensett, thru Searcy, Crosby (Armstrong Springs), Letona, Pangburn and Snell; past the Red River Rock Company at Libby Bluffs. Coming into town from the east, the traveler would first see the Power and Light company and ice house on the right. There was usually a coal pile beside the building. The train would be moving very slowly now and looking to his left he would see a lumber shipping dock with stacks of dressed lumber in the lumber yard and a planing mill with a dry kiln. About a half a block south on the edge of the cemetery was a saw mill and a small machine shop. Next was a row of warehouses belonging to Bridewell Merchantile Co. At this point the train would probably go off on a side track to the north to take on water at the water tank near Fourth St. Looking out across the switch yard, the traveler could see another large planing mill with machine shop and lumber shed. Back on the main track the train passes a cinder pit and a coal platform as it nears the depot. On the south side is a large cotton seed warehouse with scales, on a siding, and behind it Pierce Oil Corp. offices and tanks. Next is Lindsey's Flour and Feed store concrete building across the street) with a loading platform and, facing it across Seventh St, a hay storage barn. Behind the depot on the corner of Seventh St is the Hotel Hazelwood and to the west is a restaurant. If the passenger looks out the window to the south he will see Hotel Heber, formerly called Hollenbeck Hotel.

Congrats to Angel06 for FTF.
