Geocache Description:

When I saw the name of the bay, I instantly thought of the band and knew if I ever hid one on Whidbey, it would be around here. One of my favorite "heavy metal" bands growing up (and my fave umlaut band, except perhaps the Tap), I've always enjoyed their unique and cerebral sci-fi and occult/horror blend. Who else could do a song like "Joan Crawford"? One can only wonder if you can find Blue Oysters on the beach nearby...or if you would glow in the dark if you ate them.

Öbviously, the cache is not at the listed coordinates.

On their first album, there is a "nice" little song about a deal gone wrong. It has become a part of a personal tradition to play it at that time of year. It is called "Then Came The Last Days Of _____"
The month number (example: January=1) is = A

In the lyrics of their biggest hit "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", how many thousand men and women (die) every day? (Remember this was in 1976, there are nearly double the number of people on the planet now). Take this two digit number and divide it by ten and then subtract one, which = B

In the lyrics to the song "I Am The Storm" from their 1979 Mirrors album, there are two numbers: "____ and ____ are the fate that you drew". The value of the first number (think cribbage, not poker) = Ö

The Blue Öyster Cult hook and cross symbol was incorporated by Bill Gawlik, the artist hired to do the cover artwork for the first two albums. It is similar to the ancient Greek symbol for "chaos". Also, it is the symbol variant of the Greek god Kronos. The planet associated with the Roman version of the name is the ___ farthest planet from the sun. That number minus 4 = C

In the lyrics of their song "Astronomy" from 1974's Secret Treaties, how many doors are left to take you in? The answer is = D

Several songs that appear on the 1981 album "Fire Of Unknown Origin" were written for the animated movie "Heavy Metal", but only one song (which was not written for the movie, ironically) was used. The correct answer for E =

1 - Burnin' For You
2 - Veteran of the Psychic Wars
3 - Vengeance (The Pact)
4 - Heavy Metal: the Black and Silver

The song "Shooting Shark" from their 1983 album Revolution By Night, was their last Billboard Top 100 hit. It was co-written by Patti Smith. In the lyrics at the end of the song, "The _____ time round is the last time round" The answer is = F
