Geocache Description:

Please come out and join the Northern New Jersey Cachers, NNJC for the 2009 Spring Picnic - Duke Island Safari, May 2, 2009 at Somerset County's, Duke Island Park.

We have rented a Covered Pavilion which sits right next to the scenic Raritan river. Plan to come spend the day with your fellow geocachers at the NNJC Duke Island Safari base camp, venture out on a geo-safari, to do some local caching, and return for some food, drink and relaxation. Also, NNJC will hold it's first creative cache container contest, (see below) so show your creativity.

Don't forget to wear your Safari outfit, your pith helmet, binoculars, camo shirt, khaki shorts. You can dress like a Safari hunter to celebrate the theme and join in a safari hunt while you search the pride lands around Duke Island, and maybe you will find some Safari animal caches along the way.

CREATIVE CACHE CONTAINER CONTEST:

Please bring your creative cache container(s) to enter into the first NNJC creative container contest. Winner will receive a prize.

To enter the Creative Cache contest simply camouflage a container and submit it to win a prize! You will be judged on camouflage, craftsmanship, and creativity of the cache.

The cache needs to be constructed to actually be placed as a cache and be able to stand up to the elements without falling apart or leaking. You must include a log book.

When you check in and enter your cache, you will be assigned a number to correspond with your cache. One voting slip will be handed to each person at sign in. Folks will vote for their favorite cache and write the number of the cache they are voting for. You can vote until 2:00 pm; the votes will be tallied at that time and a winner declared!

Please Support NNJC
