Geocache Description:

Short walk into a nice wee park in the village of Crail. Almost a cache and dash, really, but would be a shame not to enjoy the tranquil peace of the area.

The Rude Well is a bottle shaped medieval baptism or scholars well and was discovered here by excavation in 1972. It has a religious link with the Auld Rude of Karail, the pre-reformation cross within the nearby Kirk and with baptisms.

In later ages it was associated with scholars from the old Grammer School which was in the manse in the Marketgait.

Cache placed for the langspoon 2009 and not loggable until the event. ta....
