This cache location overlooks part of the Eagle River Valley into the Holy Cross Wilderness. Holy Cross Wilderness has only one of the states 54 official state fourteeners, Mt. of the Holy Cross (14,005 ft). The peaks viewed from the cache are New York Mountain (12,545 ft) and Gold Dust Peak (13,287 ft) right and left sides respectively.
This area is my home stomping grounds and I spend many bag nights and lots of long arduous days hiking the many peaks and drainages in this area every summer.
Information on the many trails into the area is available at the Holy Cross District USFS Ranger office just off I-70 at the Hwy 24 exit, east of the cache location.
