Geocache Description:

NOTE: April 5, 2013 – I have modified the following description and hint to include nudges that have been provided to almost every successful finder to date, and hence make this cache’s difficulty rating of “2” more appropriate.

NOTE: On Sept 2, 2014 the cache was replaced with one of "small" size at the same coordinates as the original but in a place far less susceptible to the raging floodwaters. Good to go.

There are several ways to hit this one out of the park. Each method depends on your knowledge of baseball position numbers and a certain classic comedy skit.

METHOD 1. Start your warm-up by identifying the first position played on a major league team by each of the following:

Tyrus Raymond

George Herman Ruth

Jackie Robinson

Lawrence Peter

Steady Eddie

Joltin’ Joe

Mickey Mantle

Stan the Man

Then add the number of years they played professionally to their position number.

Finally, multiply each of these eight totals by the position number of the skit’s nameless player and compute the digital roots of each result. Assume the listed rotation applies.

Use these eight digits to find a “starting position,” and from here project 2425 meters on a heading of 2652 mils True to find an ammo box filled with fun stuff that has pretty much nothing to do with baseball.

METHOD 2. Skip some of these steps and use some mathematical insight.

METHOD 3. Skip all of these steps and use some baseball insight and the posted coordinates.

To successfully log this find, you must solemnly swear you figured out at least two of the three different methods to find this cache (but please keep them to yourself).
