It’s a camouflaged match-container, placed in an unusually-low Florida-Style location.
It was an innocent time growing up in these parts, and life seemed to move at a different pace. While the long journey from Caspersen’s Beach to Manasota has always been a leisurely one, its length required dedication, sunscreen, and a serious pair of hiking boots… or a mountain bike! The most dangerous aspect of the journey, other than a potential broken chain, was Karenia brevis. When blooming, this microbe produces brevetoxins, which become vaporized in the crashing surf and inflame human tissue. This results in sore throats and burning eyes, but if there was no Red Tide and your bicycle was in good condition, there wasn’t much to worry about here… not in those days anyway!
Boy how things change! I didn’t really believe the rumors about nude sunbathers out here, but I’ll admit I was slightly intrigued… and quite deceived by my assumptions! This was not what I expected from my teenage stomping grounds. Where I felt indestructible as a kid, I was now somewhat frightened. You see, Bo Derek wasn’t running topless down the beach. No, what we saw on our journey to Casperson’s Beach Cache was very different indeed…
This new cache marks the end of a nice walk… where societal norms and public decency could be expected. The area beyond it, on the other hand, proved to be an unusual place altogether. It was inhabited, strangely enough, only by men. If they were nude at one time, they seemed to have been attacked by unusual, hammock-type creatures, whose shape can only be described as banana-like. To our dismay, the hunt for Casperson’s Beach Cache had led us into the terrifying “Land of the Banana Hammocks!”
All jokes aside, this new cache marks the point on the trail where if you proceed further… things (and people) can become strange. Supervision of Geo-tykes may not be enough and exposure to banana hammocks could be unavoidable. Proceed past this cache At Your Own Risk!
The “Land of the Banana Hammocks” cache is located in one of the few shady spots. Be careful though, caches are not the only things known to hide in the woods… banana hammocks could attack from anywhere!
