This Cache is located in Cocoa Beach,Florida in the courtyard of a Hotel formerly owned by 7 famous persons and formerly known as The Cape Colony Inn The container is a micro( XL Bison)with a log BYOP D/4.0 due to High Muggle Traffic Area Use Stealth

The City of Cocoa Beach Florida has always had an ongoing place in forefront on the stage of Modern World history.And a Hotel on North Atlantic Ave. The former Cape Colony Inn shares a small bit of that history.The story begins in the early days of the Cold War with the famous speech of JFK at Rice University "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard," and same holds true on to today. That began the great adventure.With All the Triumph and Tragedy. It has always took a Special breed of person to answer the Call. At the outset 7 men of incredible courage and spirit answered the call of the unknown. and will be forever Known as The Mercury 7.Allen Shepard,John Glenn Jr.,Virgil "Gus" Grissom,Walter "Wally" Shirra,Scott Carpenter,Gordon "Gordo" Cooper Jr,Donald"Deke" Slayton who did not fly as a Mercury astronaut due to a heart ailment But later flew on the a Apollo/Soyez mission All Owners of the Cape Colony Inn where you stand today! During that time were the most famous people on the face of the planet.The complex of Buildings on the grounds The Hotel/Pool area which has extensively remodeled but the basic building has remained unchanged since the Mercury days. The Resturant and its upper level Apartments. And the Upper Apartment section was the Home of the families of the Mercury 7 while they were in town for the Launches! Right next door Which is now a Beach/Surf Shop.Was the office building,complex that was Headquarters of CBS NEWS in the days of Walter Cronkite.I hope you have enjoyed this story of this little known site and its history.From those early days.When 7 Brave Explorers showed that they had what it took to do the job to Step off into the unknown abyss of space.
