Creatures Great and Small Traditional Cache
Neophile: I can't find it, and the spot has gotten trashy, so it's time to archive it.

You are looking for a 2 X 2 inch camoed jar. Bring a pen.
There is no parking on Union City Boulevard, but there is street parking on Deloris Drive.
On the other side of the fence, creatures great and small come and go.
If you are inclined to gaze through the chain link fence, you are apt to see creatures great and small. There is a narrow flood control channel just on the other side. There are always ducks or shorebirds swimming or wading. You may see coots, great blue herons, great egrets, snowy egrets and many others depending on the time of year and the time of day.
If you are lucky, you may notice a muskrat or turtle swimming in the water. There are also some large fish that can sometimes be seen poking their heads out of the stream to catch insects.
Overhead, there are sometimes black-shouldered kites, red-tail hawks, swallows and, of course, the usual assortment of vultures, sparrows and finches.
Ground squirrels are abundant. At night, watch for opossums, raccoons and skunks. Many gopher snakes and garter snakes live here, too.
On the other side of the stream is a pasture where cattle graze, but if they wander to the far end of the pasture, you may not see them. If they are near, watch the young calves run and play. There may be goats in a pen nearby. Occasionally, a horse or two will graze alongside the cattle.
In the winter, when it rains a lot, much of the pasture floods and shorebirds such as black-necked stilts will appear in this seasonal wetland.
Sorry about the chain link fence; the view is prettier from my window.
