Geocache Description:

This Cache 9 is placed along the Hogs Back probably the finest ridge walk in Essex. Fabulous views of Hadleigh Castle and the Thames Estuary. On a clear day Canary Wharf and the Shard can be seen some 34 miles away to the west. To the east the Margate Wind Farms brilliant white sails can be seen glistening in the evening sunshine. To their left the Mansell wartime AA gun platforms still stick up like black fingers reminding us of the times they defied those nasty blonde Dornier pilots.

Anne Boleyn Queen of Hearts
Stayed at the top of the south east ramparts
She nagged poor King Henry, didn't know when to stop
So he sent her to London and gave her the chop.

Did she have six fingers ? true
Was she six feet tall ? true
Did she have her own teeth ? false

This Cache is 9 of 10 on the Ring of Fire circle.

Hadleigh Castle was constructed by Hubert De Burgh in the 13th century, built with Kentish ragstone landed on the old shoreline under the Castle. When Henry the V111 was King he granted the Castle to three of his wive's, Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves and Catherine Parr. Henry courted Anne Boleyn here. She was his second wife until he got fed up with her. She lost her head in 1536, should have seen it coming, should have gone to Specsavers.

Henry and Anne probably sat under a forefather of the old leaning field maple fossilized Magic Tree that hides the cache, an ideal picnic spot in the shade eating venison sandwiches and wild boar and muntjac flavoured crisps.

On a good clear day the clarity of light convinced young Johnny Constable that Suffolk Tractor Boy to paint the Castle twice.

This is a busy muggle area owing to its unspoilt beauty so pretend your'e bird watching whilst cache hunting. You can park free in the Salvation Army tea rooms N51 32.876 E000 36.406

A WORD OF WARNING
Watch out on any night around the full moon, as they say that Cunning Murrell seventh son of a seventh son the last Witch Doctor in England walks around this Magic Tree four times. He chants and mutters spells then spits into the south westerly wind. Idiot, no wonder he wore a hat coat and carried a cane umbrella.
