Along this winding way is a series of twelve geocaches set in anticipation and celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Topsail.
The title comes from the first verse of a hymn by Canon George Earle entitled “ Hymn for St. John the Evangelist”.
We thank thee for this parish
In South Conception Bay
And all the other churches
Along this winding way;
From Topsail beach to Seal Cove
Was once one single fold
Where farmer, priest, and fisher
Faced hunger, toil and cold
St. John the Evangelist Historic Church in Topsail will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2010. Construction of the church began in 1860 and the consecration took place on June 18, 1861. Services were conducted on this site until 1974. In the summer, this historic building is open to the public for tours. Church services are held on Sunday nights at 7:00 P.M. during July and August
