Along this winding way is a series of twelve geocaches set in anticipation and celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Topsail. Access from Metcalf's Lane. This property is owned by the church.
The title comes from the first verse of a hymn by Canon George Earle entitled “ Hymn for St. John the Evangelist”.
We thank thee for this parish
In South Conception Bay
And all the other churches
Along this winding way;
From Topsail beach to Seal Cove
Was once one single fold
Where farmer, priest, and fisher
Faced hunger, toil and cold
St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Topsail was built in 1974 to replace the old historic church. The building is modern in style and houses twelve beautiful stained glass windows which were recently installed as a memorial to past parishioners and in thanksgiving for the many blessings bestowed upon its congregation.
