Geocache Description:

This is the second of three caches that make up a circular walk around Malvern Common. The coordinates above are for the car park, not the actual cache. The coordinates for this cache are in Merlin's cache. The coordinates to Griffin's Cache have been placed in this cache.

The Malvern Common is more than 60 hectares of open grassland, mature trees, streams, ponds and wetlands. Ever-popular with dog walkers, if it is a sunny day you will find half the population of Malvern up here picnicking and playing football. Be warned that this place is full of muggles... which is why we thought this series of caches would be a challenge. Whilst the finds themselves are fairly straightforward, the utmost stealth is required.

And now a bit of history:
During World War I the common was used as a camp site for troops.

A significant portion of Malvern Common was used as a golf course. The club house, built in 1879, is still there but it is now a private house. It is located by the junction of Peachfield Road and Longridge Road.

See photos here: (visit link)

It is also worth noting that around this area you can still see gas lamps at the side of the road. There are 110 located around the Malvern area and they are thought to have been the inspiration for the gaslamp in C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lewis was once a pupil at Malvern College.

Cache is a small lock box.
