The knight is the most unique player on the chess board. It's the only piece allowed to jump over other pieces, since it moves in the shape of an "L": two squares left, right, forward, or backward and then left or right one square. The knight's options are illustrated in the picture below:
The Knight’s Tour was once a common cipher among the aristocrats of Europe in the Middle Ages. On a typical 8 X 8 chess board, the message is limited to 64 characters. A message that does not fill the grid is padded at the end with null characters. (Hint: X is a popular null.)
In this puzzle, the knight starts at one corner of the chess board shown below. He follows a wandering path that takes him to each and every square exactly once. Along the way he collects the characters of a scrambled secret message. If he follows the correct path he can reconstruct the secret message, leading him to the hidden cache.
To solve this puzzle, place your knight on a corner of the board (count the letter in the corner square as the first letter of the secret message) and then move the knight from square to square, as knights are allowed to move according to the rules of chess. Make sure he hits every square exactly once. When you have uncovered the secret message, start at the posted coordinates listed above and use the secret message to locate the hidden cache.

The cache itself contains a log only, so bring your own pen and be sure to re-hide it as you found it. Stealth will be necessary. There is an abundance of traffic in the area, but there’s a place to pull over and park nearby. Keep a close eye on the wee cachers! Good luck and have fun!
