Geocache Description:

The cache is not hidden at the posted co-ordinates, this is stage 1 of a short multi-cache that asists you in exploring the Park. Don't worry though, the cache is not far from here. Some of the paths that you will be following can get very slippery when wet.

Beaumont Park... a unique, spectacular, Victorian Park situated on a valley side on the edge of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

In 1879 the wealthy landowner Henry Frederick Beaumont, offered the area of Dungeon Wood to Huddersfield Corporation in order for them to create the town's first public park and recreation ground.

In post-war times the Park fell into disrepair and suffered from neglect. Thankfully though, the park is once again being loved and cared for. The Friends of Beaumont Park are gradually restoring the park to it's former glory.

This cache is one of a trio that I have placed around the park, with the kind permission of 'The Friends of Beaumont Park' and Kirklees Council. The three can be completed in series to form a circular tour of the park.

I would suggest that you complete the series in the following order:

Beaumont Park Promenade (visit link)
Beaumont Park - Dungeon Wood (visit link)
Beaumont Park - Old Glory (visit link)

In this part of the park a complex maze of paths wind around as they take you higher up the side of the valley. You may therefore find it useful to pick up a free copy of the visitors map from the dispenser located near the visitors centre. Alternatively, you may download a copy from here (visit link) . Please stick to the paths the cliffs are impassable.

This cache is a straightforward offset multi. Visit each of the four feeder locations, answer the posted questions and the final cache location will be revealed to you.

Do bear in mind that this side of the park is built into a very steep hillside. You may find yourself seemingly just 50ft away from one of the clues but, by the time you've followed the weaving pathways, and gained the necessary height, you may have had to walk 500ft to get to it. Don't let this put you off though, as you will inevitably stumble across numerous interesting nooks & crannies, caves, seating areas, quiet corners and viewing points

Final cache location:

N53 37.(A*B)*(D-C)+300
W01 48.(A*B)*(D-C)+218

Please use stealth when approaching/handling the cache.

Warning: The hint is a gimme so you may want to only use it if you are otherwise unable to carry-out your search without drawing attention to yourself and the cache.
