Fairly simple cache located in historic downtown Germantown, near
the corner of W. Warren and Farmersville Pike. This cache couldn't
be much easier as far as terrain goes. Watch out for
muggles!
In 1814 a 2.5 acre lot was bought by Olde Wine (German name
pronounced veen) and Porter, who were tanners They then built a
brick tannery on the corner of what is now warren and was then
known as farm road and Farmersville pike. It was a long building
that stretched up Farmersville pike quite a ways. when the basement
was dug for the current house during world war 2, the foundation
from the tannery was found along with chunks of tanning troughs
that were carved and hollowed out by these tanners so that they
could be made into troughs to tan the hide of sick cows that
farmers couldn’t get meat out of. William west owned the property
at the end of 19th century. Col. Oren Brown lived on this block and
a lot of the landscaping stone in the area came from his house. The
house nearest the cache is now under construction and will soon
serve as a sort of modest starter home for my brother and his
lovely soon to be wife. Don't worry they're not Muggles. Note:
There are no clues in the above paragraph. The only clue is located
under "additional hints." In addition the building that once served
as the tannery is no longer standing, this cache is only positioned
near the area where it once was.
