Geocache Description:

WWFM V

"WWFM" stands for the World Wide Flash Mob event

Preliminary Information

This event is a "Flash Mob" gathering of geocachers, only 15 minutes long!

To claim the event, you must be present and sign a log sheet during this time. (Hence the difficulty level of 2.)

Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (muggles) to geocaching.

You've heard of:  MEGA-EVENTS? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. Sort of like a micro-event.

FLASH MOBS have gathered for other reasons.  (visit link)

Come be part of this historic experience!

EVENT DETAILS

The event will begin precisely at 10:00am on May 2, 2009 and will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

There is plenty of parking in the location of the event, but we suggest driving down a little early so as to ensure you have a place to park that is not too far away.

Either stay in your car or get out of your car and pretend you are a muggle. Act like you don't know anyone else.

  • 9:59 AM - Make your way to the designated event coordinates shown above. Keep acting like you know no one.
  • 10:00 AM - At exactly 10:00 AM as determined by the GPS clock, we will blow a whistle at the designated coordinates to signify the start of the flash. You may then converge on the area for the official event. Loot bags will be handed out with a nametag and crayon, informational flyer with a minute by minute itinerary, candy snack, Individual team log sheet and pencil. Sign individual log sheets and drop them in the marked geocache log container. There will also be large orange containers for SWAG, travel bugs, and CITO. Then mingle and chat with your fellow cachers.
  • 10:10 AM - Assemble for and take group photo. After the photo briefly mingle & chat.
  • 10:14 AM - One minute warning is called "It is now 10:14!" FTF honor and door prizes will be verified and announced. Clean up and prepare to leave. Wait for it......c'mon we said wait! OK - GO!
  • 10:15 AM - LEAVE the area immediately! AMSCRAY & SKEDADDLE! Log entries sealed & closed. If you missed the signing you missed the event.

FTF honors, group photo, geocoin raffle, flash meal, personal memento, and other details will soon be posted by ProjectFred325.

There will be printed copies of this ultra-precise itinerary distributed at the event as well as geocaching brochures for the curious muggles.

For those who haven't cached the Kitsap area, you're in for a treat before and after the WWFM 5 event. Port Orchard and surrounding towns are a great opportunity to grab more caches. For those who have cached in the Kitsap area, you will be happy to know that there are new hides for you to seek out. Within a 5 mile area there are over 160 caches!

Within one mile of the WWFM 5 event is another event!

Please be sure when posting your "will attend" log to put the projected number in your group.  We will be making grab bags and need to make more than enough for the WWFM.
