In the grand South Australian tradition of being uncreative when naming places (think Greenhill, Brownhill, Blackhill, 1st Creek, 2nd Creek, 3rd Creek...) we bring you..... Pretty Corner.
Named so because, well, it's pretty. And its a corner.
This area of Morialta contains very different vegetation to the rest of the park, with tall, straight trees with an unusual linear cracked effect in the bark. There is little undergrowth and wonderful glimpses of the valley below and Adelaide plains beyond through the trees.
The cache is located at the base of some small cliffs, so naturally, its not wise to approach from the top. Although the cache is near Norton Summit road, parking on and crossing the road here is dangerous and not recommended.
The best approach is a pleasant, uphill walk to the cache via either the Woodforde Track or Hogan's Hill tracks, which start from the Morialta Falls road. Parking is available at the lower or upper (occasionally you will need to pay to park in the upper) car parks, note the gate closing times or you may be locked in!
The tracks pass along the hillside just below the cache, and if you continue on to the lookout you will be rewarded with views of the spectacular Morialta cliffs and more pretty caching opportunities. You then have the option of taking a switchbacking track down to the top of Giant's Cave and then the upper carpark, which forms a nice walking or jogging loop.
The cache is a square cliplock container and contains a FTF prize and souvenir cards for all finders. Please ensure the cache is well covered after replacing.
