Geocache Description:

What a shame that this rest area is no longer in use....

This cache is hidden in an old decommissioned rest area near Alexandra Bridge. In years past, this was one of our favourite places to stop, set well back off the road and with nice big individual picnic areas. I don't know for sure, but it almost appeared that it may have been a campsite. I don't ever recall it being anything other than a picnic spot though.

The gps reception can be quite poor in the area. The best we could achieve was a 9m accuracy with a high-sensitivity receiver, so I'll provide a bit of help.

There is a pullout for northbound traffic across from the existing Alexandra Bridge Rest Area. From this pullout, you should see the old rest area road behind a row of big cement barricades. Travelling approx. 100m in a southerly direction from these barricades ,the cache will be about 1m off the east side of the road before you get to the fork in the road. Cache container is a 50mm ammo can and is hidden at ground level near the base of a young fir tree. Please post the coordinates where you find the cache in your log entry. I'll update my coords if they are consistently off.

Congratulations to Teddy2k on the FTF!

MaliBooBoo got a tick in the area, so please be aware, thanks!
