I dedicated this cache to my grandmother who's hard work and dedication provided her own book on the history of Old Mystic: "A History Of Old Mystic 1600-1999" authored and published by Kathleen Greenhalgh, © 1999.
Old Mystic is a small town at the upper end of the Mystic River. Most often associated with the Old Mystic Village. A quaint little spot often over looked by tourists.
The first stage has parking near the Old Mystic Store and post office. From here are several points of interest. Just south of here is the Indian & Colonial Research Center. Just to the south east is popular metaphysical shop called Mystical Horizons. And to the north east is the famous Old Mystic Inn.
Walk north west over the river to find the first stage. Once there take note of the following:
- X - The number of eagles on the plaque.
- Y - The alphabetic position of the last character bottom right (A=1,B=2,C=3...)
- Z - Answer for Y plus the number of stars on the plaque.
Stage two is calculated by adding 0.0XY to North and subtracting 0.XYZ from the West. Stage two will give the final coordinates.
While at stage three take a moment to look around and note the historical building here and the dedication to the cache location.
