Geocache Description:

Magnetic bottlecap container

This cache is located in an area where a F2 tornado touched down on June 2, 1998. It was the first and to this date only tornado ever recorded in Mineral County. The tornado began in Pennsylvania then continued into Garrett County Maryland before entering Mineral County and hit Hampshire County before fizzling out. It caused minor damage and injured five. The damaged trees can still be seen on the hillside across New Creek.
Luckily the storm missed the local high school 2 miles away, thus sparing the home of the Keyser High School Golden Tornado.
Please be mindful of the traffic on the highway as this is very close to the road. Coal trucks often use this road, and the driver's usually have no regard for the speed limit.
