Geocache Description:

This is an Impressive Church high up on the rocks above St. Peter
am Freienstein.

It is situated on the rocks looking down over the village, built on
the remains of an old castle which dates back to the 13th Century.

The Pilgrim Church which dates from the 17th Century is open
from Easter Sunday until the end of October and has a service
on the 13th day of every month starting in May.

Inside the church you can see Fresco’s from the Styrian painter
Matthias von Görz !

You can park directly underneath the church , next to the sign for
the “Freiensteinerhütte” , follow the sigh which leads the way up
the road, the walk which is quite steep, takes about 15mins.

For those who want to walk a bit further the path carries on
past the church along through the wood and eventually comes back
down to the road !
