Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the posted coordinates.

Recently, 1GCQT and I visited Providence Canyon in southwestern Georgia. This area, now a state park, is refered to as Georgia's Little Grand Canyon due to the incredible colors and steep canyon walls accidentally created by earlier human activites.

Now as a state park, visitors are permitted to hike to the bottom and walk the creek beds that are still carving paths through the Georgia clay. Unfortunately, people also continue to "carve" through the loose sand and clay, despite warnings from the Park Service that it is illegal and not to do so.

While at the bottom of one of the canyons, we happened upon some interesting human carvings in one of the sand towers. Wouldn't have noticed it normally if the sun hadn't been in just the right spot to cast shadows at just the right angle, so it may be VERY difficult to ever find this again (if it also hasn't been washed away). But, we were fortunate enough to have been there that day and so I took a picture of it to admire later.

After really looking at it closely, and significantly enhancing the photograph, I realized these etchings were really cool as they were actually a code to a set of coordinates! I turned to 1GCQT and said, "Hey, 1GCQT! This is really cool! I think these are codes to a set of coordinates! Wow!"

After careful research and photographic reconstruction, I was able to verify that, indeed, it was a code to coordinates that just happened to be in my area! What are the chances of that?!! So, instead of keeping this neat discovery a secret, one that the world may never be able to view in its original placement again due to the angle of the sun and erosion factors, I decided to use these coordinates, and the code revealing them, as a cache to share with you! Seriously, no thanks necessary. I know how excited you are just to have this passed on to you for your enjoyment, as well as preserve it for the enjoyment of future generations to come.

So, what is this code, you ask? Below is an enhancement of the photo I took that day. I took the liberty to clean up the picture so that you could see what is most important to you. Some have said that it may be easier to see these obvious coordinates on some browsers than others, but I really don't know about that. Also, depending on whether your printer is of sufficient quality, it may just be easier to look at it on paper than to stare at the computer screen. But again, that's your choice.

What are the chances of this discovery?!

Please replace this small tupperware-like container exactly where and as you found it, and please ensure the lid is securely re-tightened. Enjoy!

Notes to Observe

The only thing keeping this from a grade-5 terrain is that it is a fairly short hike and it doesn't really require repelling equipment. But, depending on the direction you come in, that might be helpful, too!

Finally, sorry about the Terrain. That's just where the code for these coords put me. Bummer.

If you have any additional suggested required equipment for this cache, please be sure to note it in your log and I'll add it to the list!
