Since 1995, the Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission
and the Black Hawk County Conservation Board have partnered
together to offer free recycling education programs to schools and
adult groups in Black Hawk County. This program is based out of
Hartman Reserve
Nature Center in Cedar Falls.
School programs offered cover a wide range of topics from
Vermicomposting and Compost Critters to Making
Recycled Paper. Adult programs include topics like Managing
Household Hazardous Material, landfill tours, and Backyard
Composting.
