Thanks, HikerRon, for the container. This was my FTF prize for Run Around. This is the spring for which Mt. Springs is named. Beware of snakes around the trees and rocks. And unless your heart and balance are excellent, skip this one.
According to my grandmother's research for her book, "The Legend of Mountain Springs," Native Americans, pioneers, and early settlers stopped here for the healing waters of the spring or even to camp out for several days. It was like a resort. Sadly the spring is now overgrown in weeds and most of the newcomers to the area aren't even aware of it's existence. Those who are aware of it seldom if ever go to it because now it is so hard to get to and contains so much iron, everything around it is orange and it is full of leaves and gunk.
Please use bug spray, wear long pants, and watch for snakes. You'll thank me for the advice later!
***** NOTE ***** You is room to park on the side of Kirkland Dr. but be careful not to block the fire hydrant. Please walk to the spring in the electricity right-of-way, not in the neighbor's yard. The people at the bottom of the hill own the land all the way up to the spring, so please be respectful and don't go through their backyard.
