Located near a small rest stop on "Old Highway 80". Should be a quick park and grab. Difficulty and terrain levels are low. I would watch out for creepy crawlies as they are in the area.
This cache is meant to be a travel bug and geocoin cache only. We ask that only trackable items be left or taken as it is "The Travel Bug Rest Stop". There are trackables in it for the First to Find
The section of road where this cache is located is part of the "Old Highway 80" This highway served as one of the main thoroughfares for the lower half of the country for much of the last century. There are now only segments of this dinosaur located across the state since the creation of the Interstate system. Interstate 20 parallels this area and vehicles traveling on it can be seen not far away. It is interesting to travel this old road as it gives off a feeling of traveling back in time. These old highways that are not used much any more have a much slower pace about them and come with scenery that can not be seen by the blurring speeds of the Interstates. If you follow this portion of the highway east or west it takes you directly into the downtown districts of different towns as well as some small towns that are not on the Interstate. These places will not be seen unless you get off the fast pace of the freeway and slow down. We chose to place a cache along this old road because it has a special meaning to us as we have lived across portions of it in two different states for most of our lives.
We located a cache like this last year and have wanted to make one ever since. We look forward to this experience.
As of Summer 2011 a fire destroyed the last cache and it has been replaced.
