Backcountry Bubbles Two! Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Ullii: This one probably has to be archived because of how bad the terrain has gotten. I'll confirm next week after checking the last remaining approach to the cache.

Geocache Description:

A lock and lock container with steep access!

Backcountry Bubbles Two

This is the second in a series of our Bonny Doon caches. This hike will leave you panting getting to the top but once up, it's relatively flat and spacious. It's open fields and the trail system is much better. The views are outstanding and there is usually solitute here. This cache name is a nod to Trail Reader’s Backcountry Bubbles cache (GC13THM).

This cache is on a bluff that overlooks the West Branch of Liddell Creek, Bonny Doon Road and on out to sea. This is a strenuous hike. Getting there requires navigating steep switchbacks that are not well defined and are not maintained. It also requires what amounts to not much more than bushwhacking on parts of the trail and involves some scrambling over limestone outcroppings.

Terrain

“To be afraid of nature is to be afraid of yourself”- Jack Kerouac
That said, retrieval of this cache is not for small children. Teens could make it but need supervision and parents discretion. This trail is steep and not to be taken lightly!

The cache is a lock and lock container full of pretty decent swag

Getting There
To get to the cache: There is parking at the trailhead. Head into the canyon and work your way up the tangle of switchback on your right. The key is to get as high as possible before circling the Bonny Doon RD side of the fin. After breaking out of tree cover, head up to the limestone outcropping above you. From there you can follow the subsequent outcroppings to the peak. From the peak the trail is flat and pretty well marked.
